Harry Winston, the Definitive Biography of an American Icon

    by Ronald Winston

On September 19, 2023, a biography of his father, Harry Winston, by Nippon Club member Ronald Winston, titled “King of Diamonds: Harry Winston, the Definitive Biography of an American Icon,” will be published.

Few American success stories rival that of Harry Winston who came from humble roots that his parents were poor Jewish immigrants who left Ukraine around 1890 for New York, where they started a small jewelry business. A compact, unassuming man with no formal education, but unlimited drive and ambition, Harry Weinstein transformed himself into Harry Winston, an enigmatic figure who embodied luxury and at one point owned a third of the world’s most famous gems, including the Hope Diamond. Now, here is the story of his life: KING OF DIAMONDS: Harry Winston, the Definitive Biography of an American Icon, written by his only living son Ronald Winston and William Stadiem (Skyhorse Publishing, September 19, 2023).

With shocking details of business rivals, treacherous colleagues, powerfully vindictive clients, and back-stabbing family members, this story of a self-made man in a self-made career is certain to surprise and delight readers interested in history, entrepreneurship, complicated family stories, and anyone fascinated with diamonds and the jewelry business.
