On Friday, September 20, the Nippon Club held a talk event with actress AKO, who plays the role of Daiyoin / Lady Iyo in the hit drama series “SHOGUN” (Hulu/FX) and is active in the Japanese and American theater world. The audience was thrilled to see Ms. AKO in a glamorous kimono. Ms. Saori Goda moderated the event.

In the first part, she talked about the drama series “SHOGUN.” On September 16, four days before the talk event, “SHOGUN” won a record 18 Emmy Awards, including Best Picture. The audience was very excited to hear her talk about the behind-the-scenes filming, the appeal of the drama, and the reason it became a worldwide hit.

In the second part, Ms. AKO talked about the Off-Broadway production of “OKUNI ”*, a two-actor drama that she will perform, direct, and produce herself, which will be staged for the first time this November.
