The 16th Annual Tokyo-New York Friendship Ceramic Competition

 
The Nippon Gallery (located at The Nippon Club) will host an exhibition of The 16th Annual Tokyo-New York Friendship Ceramic Competition, presented by The Ceramic Artist Friendship Association, Inc.
 
Eminent judges including Toshio Ohi, the 11th Generation Ohi Potter; Ron Labaco, Marcia Docter Curator of Museum of Arts & Design; Shinichi Doi, former conservator, The Metropolitan Museum; Cora Rosevear, Associate Curator, Museum of Modern Art; Professor Miyeko Murase, Takeo and Itsuko Atsumi Professor Emerita, Columbia University and former Special Consultant for Japanese Art at The Metropolitan Museum will select winning pieces from 100 of the finest works, 50 from New York and 50 from Tokyo. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding works. Each entry will be judged for its aesthetics, creativity, originality, and technical skill.
 
This competition strives to further the cultural ties between the sister cities of New York and Tokyo by encouraging and honoring the creativity of ceramic artists from Japan and the U.S.
