Naoki Nomura Original KIMONO Exhibition
“Kacho-Fugetsu – Beauties of Nature”
For nearly a half century, Naoki Nomura has been designing kimono. Schooled in the Kyo Yuzen style of kimono design, Mr. Nomura focuses on the natural beauty in Japan. Mr. Nomura believes that a kimono should enhance the charm and beauty of the person who wears it and that his creations only truly become “kimono” when they are worn. He hopes that this display of his works will help people understand the richness of kimono design.
The exhibition showcases original Kimonos and obi depicting “Kacho-Fugetsu”, which is “Beauties of Nature” such as flower, birds, wind and moon – common Japanese motifs for art.
Nomura uses various colors he himself created to spectacularly depict beauties of nature. Nomura’s Kimonos embrace both tradition and elegance, with a flair for the modern. We invite you to experience the beauty of Nomura’s kimonos as they travel from Kyoto to New York. Please don’t miss this opportunity.
