The Nippon Club holds winter tennis tournaments as one of its sports activities. This season, each event will be held on Saturdays from January to March. The January and February tournaments will be held at The Cary Leeds Indoor Tennis Center in the Bronx, and the March tournament will be held on the indoor courts at the USTA National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, where the US Open is held every year. The tournaments will be open to both men and women in singles, doubles, and team competition. Not only Nippon Club members but also non-members/guests are welcome to participate.

Below is the tournament schedule from January to March. We will be sending out information about the January tournament soon. Everyone is welcome, whether you like to play tennis, play regularly and want to try out for a game, haven’t played in a while, or are a first-time participant. Please join us regardless of your tennis level. Let’s enjoy playing your match in the tournament.

2025 Nippon Club Tennis Tournament

We will be hosting our first January Tennis Tournament of the season at Cary Leeds Indoor Tennis Courts in the Bronx. Please see the details below and join us!

●“New Yorkers Cup” Open Singles A・B Tournaments (First half of the tournament)
●“New Yorkers Cup” Singles Open B Tournaments (First half of the tournament)
●Veteran Doubles Tournament (above 50 years old)

Saturday, January 18, 6:00pm – 10:00pm
●“New Yorkers Cup” Singles Open A Tournaments (Second half of the tournament)
●“New Yorkers Cup” Singles Open B Tournaments (Second half of the tournament)
●“Salonpas Cup” Mix Doubles A・B Tournament

*NOTE: Open is a competition in which both male and females can participate. Class A is an experienced player in student tennis club / school activities or equivalent advanced level, and Class B is for intermediate / beginners level. It is a self-report. Veteran doubles requires each player to be over 50 years old, and pairs can be male and female. Please note that the start time for each game and meeting time will differ for each player.

Eligibility：Nippon Club members, Employees of Nippon Club member companies and their families, Guests of member, and Non-members can also participate.

Participation fee：
● $40 for Members, $60 for Guests/Non-members (for Open Singles A・B Tournaments)
● $40/pp for Members, $60/pp for Guests/Non-members (for Veteran Doubles Tournament / Mixed Doubles Tournament)

Tournament method： A knockout match in a tournament format.
It is possible to register both open singles and mixed doubles at the same time, but it is not possible to register singles and veteran doubles at the same time. To choose the desired classes for A and B is self-declared, but basically, A is an experienced in student tennis club / school activities or equivalent advanced level, and B is an intermediate / beginners level. Doubles pairs can be two male, two female or mixed. For Mix doubles, it’s only male and female pairing.
(However, please note that your class may be requested to change based on the judgment and decision of the Tennis tournament management committee, and the tournament classes may not be divided or combined depending on the number of participants.) Other details like whether or not there will be a repechage match (consolation), and the method will be decided by the Tennis committee.
