The Nippon Club Autumn Music Event 2022, “An Evening of Music from Spain,” was held on Wednesday, November 2.
Our annual Autumn music event was held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, under the title “An Evening of Music from Spain.” Sponsored by ID Holdings and Supported by All Nippon Airways, the in-person event was held in the Nippon Club building.
Beginning in the gallery space on the seventh floor of the Nippon Club building, guests enjoyed a Spanish-themed buffet dinner prepared by Nippon Club Chef Yasuoka, including seafood paella, pinchos, Spanish tortilla (omelette), pasta with squid ink sauce, and more.
Entertainment followed the meal in the Rose Room on the second floor. The master of ceremonies was Ms. Christina Maxwell. The event began with opening remarks by Mr. Akira Yamamoto, Vice President of the Nippon Club and Japanese Services Group Leader – Americas & US of Deloitte LLP.
The performance started with flamenco featuring Ms. Xianix Barrera, dancer; Mr. Alfonso Cid, singer; and Mr. Adrian Alvarado, guitarist. The atmosphere of the venue was transformed to a night in Spain.
Next was a performance of classical guitar by Ms. Tomomi Kohno. She played five Spanish songs:
1.Asturias (Isaac Albéniz)
2.Granada (Isaac Albéniz)
3.Recuerdos de la Alhambra (Francisco Tárrega)
4.Danza del molinero (Manuel de Falla)
5.3 movements from Trilogy (Frederic Hand)
The last performance of the night featured Ms. Tamara Mumford, a mezzo-soprano singer of the Metropolitan Opera. She sang “Habañera” and “Seguídilla” from the opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, and “El paño moruno,” “Jota,” and “Nana” from “Seven Spanish Folk Songs” by Manuel de Falla, a Spanish composer.
The event ended with a collaboration between the three female performers. We’d like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the member companies who sponsored this event. And thank you to our guests who participated.
