EVENT DETAIL

Joint Online Health Seminar co-sponsored by The Nippon Club and Japanese Medical Society of America (JMSA)
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – to save the lives of children –

With advances in pediatric intensive care, we are saving small children’s lives every day that could not have been saved before. Multiple factors played an important role in this progress: In addition to advances in medical technology, regionalization of medical care, better interdisciplinary teamwork, improved quality and standardization of medical care, and promotion of family integrated care, to name a few. Improving the quality of life of children and families with a partnership with the community is our important goal for the next 10 years. This is a paradigm shift from our previous focus on survival outcomes.

The webinar will cover the following:

  • What is a PICU (Pediatric ICU)? How is it different from a neonatal care unit (NICU) or adult ICU?
  • What kind of children are treated?
  • What kind of people work there?
  • What are the differences between the U.S. and Japan?
  • What can I do now?
