Under the “America First Principle”, the Trump administration’s four years, including withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) and climate change, and confrontation with allies such as Europe, have led to the United States and its allies and the international framework, Relationships with international organizations have changed significantly. Will this US diplomatic stance “return” in the next Biden administration? Professor Jose Alvarez, who teaches international law at New York University and is also the director of the American Institute of Asian Law at New York University, will give a lecture on the situation and issues surrounding the next administration from the perspective of international law.

This lecture will be given in English. (On the day of the event, we will provide subtitles for simultaneous interpretation into Japanese by Wordly.) Also, prior to this lecture, the professor wrote a treatise on the same theme as this webinar, and you can see the treatise here.   Speaker Profile

Prof. Jose Alvarez

After graduating from Harvard University and the law school, after working in the Legal Advisory Department of the Ministry of State, taught international law at the University of Michigan, Columbia University, etc., and has been a professor at New York University since 2009. From 2006 to 2008, he was Chairman of the American International Law Association. His books include International Organizations as Law-Makers (2005), The Boundaries of International Arbitration (2018).
