Let’s Support COVID-19 Fighters! Progress Report Vol. 15
Report of June 2022
The Nippon Club and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York (JCCI), with support from various companies and the Japanese Medical Society of America (JMSA), launched the Bento Project on May 7, 2020, and it is now in its third year. This means that Chef Yasuoka and the kitchen staff at Nippon Club have made 14,749 bento boxes in the past two years. We will continue the project this year to contribute to the New York community by supporting our front line workers with Japanese food.
On Thursday, June 2, Mr. Sayu Ueno, President of the JCCI and former President of the Nippon Club, paid a courtesy visit to the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) 24th Precinct on West 100th Street in Manhattan, together with Dr. Robert Yanagisawa, President of the JMSA, which has been cooperating in the Bento Project.
They met police officers who are working to keep New York City safe, expressed gratitude in person, and delivered Japanese food bento boxes to them.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of you who are helping us on the bento project.
As the situation remains tricky, we want to continue supporting frontline workers with meals that bring smiles to their faces while restoring their strength. Would you like to join us in sending “gratitude and support” with Japanese bento boxes? Donations are always welcome. For more information, please click here.
