Did you know there is a specialist for sleep medicine? Sleeping is what we do for a quarter of the day every day. Just like eating and you care about diet for your health, sleeping and resting takes a major role in your health. Sleep problems occur in all generations, even at a young age. Dr.Kawai, the physician and scientist at Stanford University who specialized in sleep medicine and neurophysiology will give us his perspective about what is important to know about sleep.

  Speaker Profile

Makoto Kawai, M.D.
Associate Professor, Stanford University

Got a Japanese medical board by graduating from Kyoto University. Residency and fellowship in Baylor College of Medicine, TX and became board certified in American board of psychiatry and neurology sleep medicine, neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and epilepsy. Currently practicing as associate professor at Stanford Health as a sleep specialist near SF. He remains in an academic position to pursue learning his special interest; investigate the mechanism of progression from normal aging to mild cognitive disorder and dementia through potential sleep biomarkers, as well as seeing the impact of sleep to cognitive function and behavioral abnormality.
