After a three-year absence, the Nippon Club will resume one of its main outdoor activities this year, the Winter Tennis Tournament. This year, we plan to hold several doubles tournaments over two weekends in March. The event will be held on Saturday, March 11th and Saturday, March 18th at the indoor courts of the USTA National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, where the US Open is held every year.There will be three events: Open Doubles A (for advanced level), Open Doubles B (for beginner and intermediate levels), and Women’s Doubles.

Not only Nippon Club members but also non-member/guests are welcome to participate. (If you take this opportunity to join as a trial membership, the participation fee for the tennis tournament will be treated as a member.) Please see the tournament outline and application information below. Everyone is welcome, whether you like to play tennis, play regularly and want to try out for a tournament, haven’t played in a while, or are a first-time participant. Please join us regardless of your tennis level. Let’s enjoy playing your match in the tournament.

【Date and time】

(first half of the tournament)

*Please note that the start time for each game and meeting time will differ for each player.

（* Open means a tournament in which both men and women can participate. Pairs can be a man and a woman. If you don’t have a pair, we may be able to find a pair for you.）

【Number of participants for each tournament】
Open Doubles A：up to 16 pairs
Open Doubles B：up to 16 pairs (Registration is closed as we have reached capacity.)
Women’s Doubles：up to 8 pairs
※NOTE: the number of courts is limited, and if registrations reach capacity, a waitlist will be used.

【Participation qualifications】
Nippon Club registered members, member’s guests,
and non-members are also welcome to participate

【Participation Fee】
Nippon Club members $40 per person
Guest / Non-member: $60 per person

【Competition method】
A knock-out battle in a Tournament format.

The desired classes for Open A and B are self-declared, but basically, A is an advanced level and has experience in student tennis club / school athletics or is considered to have the equivalent ability, and B is an intermediate level. Doubles pairs can be two male, two female or mixed. (However, please note that your class may be requested to change according to the decision of the Tennis tournament committee, or depending on the number of applicants, the class may not be divided or may be merged.) Details, whether or not there will be a repechage match (consolation), and the method will be decided by the Tennis committee.
*We are doing our best to ensure the smooth progress of the tournament, but due to the limited number of courts at the venue, we may ask you to wait for a while before and/or after your match. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
